OneAmerica Modernizes Enrollment Access for Smart Devices
Responsive digital site helping participants get on track to be retirement-ready

The companies of OneAmerica®, which offer retirement plan products and other financial services, today announced the successful launch of a new mobile-optimized digital platform to allow group annuity plan participants a faster, yet still secure, way to register and enroll using OneAmerica.com.
In just the first month that the smart-device-friendly platform was put into operation, OneAmerica charted an almost 10-percentage-point increase in the number of visitors that successfully made it through enrollment.
“A successful enrollment means more people are on their way to retirement readiness, and that is our goal,” said Bill Yoerger, president of retirement business for the companies of OneAmerica. “Individuals know they should invest in their future, and we believe we’ve made it easier for them to do that.”
Already, the retirement plan participant website accessed through OneAmerica.com placed second in a new ranking of the 10 best 401(k) provider mobile websites. The survey was conducted by DALBAR, a Boston-based financial services evaluations and ratings firm. For its third quarter assessment focused on content, functionality and usability, DALBAR also awarded an “Excellent” designation to OneAmerica.com.
While website enrollment was already in place, OneAmerica enhanced the user experience for owners of smart devices, using responsive design, so that every task can be achieved via any mobile device. Participants can navigate more simply, make changes in their deferral rate, and can change their asset allocations as they desire, with fewer steps. The QuickEnroll option, for example, can be completed in three clicks. Prior, it could take as many as eight steps to enroll.
“It’s all about using our understanding of human motivation and behavior to provide flexibility and technological guidance,” said Marsha Whitehead, vice president of marketing, retirement services and employee benefits. “This creates processes that drive needed behaviors and improve participant retirement readiness.”
A calculator feature embedded in the site helps participants decide how much they can afford to contribute, based on age and income. Users also will see, through contribution percentage elections, how close they are to the goal of being retirement ready.
Plan sponsors, financial professionals and OneAmerica retirement service personnel can help educate plan participants and employees via an easy-to-use demo. Educational consultants in the field can now assist employees that want to enroll on the spot at enrollment meetings, bypassing the 'inertia procrastination' so many consumers say impedes their ability and their desire to enroll. “This makes it front and center, and immediate,” said Whitehead.
