Articles for Research

OneAmerica conducts biannual research of retirement plan participants to better understand their attitudes and behaviors about preparing for retirement. Conducting this research gives us insights into opportunities we have to provide you and your participants with resources that add value to the retirement plan process.

We conducted our most recent survey from August 27, 2015, through January 31, 2016, and received input from more than 10,500 participants. Some survey highlights include:

  • One-third of participants think about retirement on a weekly basis.
  • Participants younger than 35 are most receptive to employer education and communication about retirement benefits.
  • 56 percent of participants cite not having enough money as the most likely reason they would need to delay retirement.
  • 84 percent of participants prefer to receive communications via email.
